More Speed, Less Bloat: Our No-CMS Philosophy

At our studio, we made a conscious decision to not use a traditional CMS for our website content, and it wasn’t a random choice, it came from experience, from frustration, and from a constant need to move faster without dragging unnecessary tools behind us. Most CMS platforms, even the modern headless ones, are built to solve problems we simply don’t have.

They’re made for large teams managing dynamic content at scale, with complex permissions, editorial workflows, and lots of non-technical users. That’s not us. We’re a small, focused, design-driven team that thrives on control, precision, and speed.

Our website is not a news site or a content hub, it’s a curated space to express who we are, what we build, and how we think.

We don’t want a database to publish a few paragraphs. We don’t need a dashboard to push a design update. What we do need is the freedom to break rules, test ideas quickly, and optimize everything from the visual hierarchy to the loading time without fighting against a theme, a plugin, or a third-party structure.

CMSs add layers, sometimes helpful, often painful. They abstract things that we don’t want abstracted.

They slow down performance with unnecessary scripts and assets.

They limit design with predefined components or restrictive editors.

And they often become security liabilities, with regular updates and plugin vulnerabilities that we’d rather just avoid altogether. Instead, we write everything by hand, using clean, static-first code and direct integration with modern tools.

This means faster load times, fewer bugs, tighter designs, and zero bloat.

When we make a change, we know exactly what it does and why. When we deploy, we deploy exactly what we intended, no surprises, no hidden logic.

We’re not against CMSs, they’re just not our use case. Some people think a CMS makes things “easier”. We think building without one makes us better, sharper, more deliberate, and way more in control of the experience we deliver.

Our work deserves that level of care. Our clients deserve that level of focus.

We're building our own. Every decision is ours. That’s how we move fast and stay true to our design philosophy.
